I really like this place. I should bring my Husband here more often. GOOD burgers, the atmosphere is very cozy. I love it!

I was here for lunch on Saturday. We thought it would be expensive so we waited for a celebration outing, but their lunch menus are nearly half price, very reasonable. The interior was lovely, our server was attentive, and the food was delicious. I got Tilapia in a butter lemon sauce, and my boyfriend got a steak, we both enjoyed our dishes. I think Tilapia is pretty safe and hard to do wrong, so I'll add that I liked the option of a sweet potato in place of baked potato/mashed potatoes, and the house - made honey mustard dressing was REALLY good. Surprisingly, it was pretty empty, which meant it was nice and quiet and we got to sit by a window. I would highly recommend for a lunch treat, and plan to go back sooner than later.

I stopped by Fireside today with a group of five people. We were seated right away. I was really impressed with the atmosphere, which was that of a typical steakhouse only ENORMOUS. We grabbed seats in the bar area. It was overall a good experience. My grandmother and I arrived significantly earlier than the rest of our party and this seemed to be a sign to the waitress to leave us alone for the twenty minutes we had to wait for the others to show up. I mean, we got drinks, but needed refills and an appetizer and we literally had to wave our hands above our heads and shout at the waitress to get her attention (she was having a conversation with another waiter at the time). For an appetizer we got Saganaki, which was the best I've had outside of Greektown. I had the fish and chips which was pretty good. Overall, I'd recommend it on the sole fact that this place gave me a full glass of wine and not the tiny teaspoon portion that you're more likely to find at another steakhouse.

I don't understand the good reviews, we thought this place was awful. The food was awful and the service was awful. The bread was salty, the salad had way too much dressing, the prime rib was all fat and my ribeye was served in a "bowlful" of juice that got into my too hard vegetables. Now I'm no chef, but according to all the cooking shows, that is not how you serve a steak. Also, the steak had no flavor, no seasoning at all. it was tender but I had to use alot of A-1 steak sauce. The waitress was just plain rude. She was an older lady and really should just retire! We drive by this place on our way to NIU and we told her we needed the check and she said Oh well NIU is very close. Yes but we had to get up there and then back home again, did she bother to think we might live much further away. What an idiot! Just give us the damn check! Lastly, the place was horribly loud. It did have a nice interior otherwise.

I've been to the Fireside a few times as its close to WCC and it's one of the few restaurants in Sugar Grove. The service is usually adequate and timely... not bad, but not great. I'm a fan of the chicken sandwich and grilled pork chops. The chops are very flavorful and doesn't have a lot of fat on them. The crowd varies from older couples to a business clientele. It can get surprisingly loud which can make it hard to hear your tables conversation. Even when they're busy you're seated almost immediately and the food comes out quickly. I've never had a delay in getting my meal.

Awesome food and service! Much better than any other restaurant in the area. I like the diversity of the employees as well.

Slow service, never changing menus. Restaurant is not well diverse and staff is not enthusiastic about the menu either.

I don't understand the great reviews for this restaurant. We went here last night as I had been wanting to try this place for awhile. The food was just not good, which was disappointing because I really wanted to like it. We live in North Aurora and wanted to try something other than the Turf Room which is pretty proud of themselves. I ordered the "take two" special, which is 2 entrees and sides. I had the "broasted" pork chop and the BBQ ribs, which were both touted as being "outstanding" by our waiter. The chop seems deep fried instead of broasted, was dry and had no flavor. The ribs tasted like they were likely leftover from another night and were dry. My husband didn't even eat his meal, which was the steak bite appetizer, baked sweet potato and a salad. The best part of the dinner for both of us was the sweet potato and salad, which is sad. And to top it all off, the wine was horrible. This was the first time we've ever left a restaurant with wine still in the bottle. So $70.00 later, we will never be back. I wish someone would open a moderately priced restaurant in this area that has great food and wine. They'd make a fortune.

We hosted a large party here. The service was great, all our guys enjoyed their food. The menu is all over the place, the chef is very creative and fearless with his menu. You can taste the love of freedom he has to create his dishes. The passion can be tasted and I really the few times that i've been here. The ambiance alone is relaxing and inviting, love love LOVE the fireplace.

So I've been waiting for almost two weeks to find the right place for my 100th review. So here we go! My wife and I stopped in here for a good night out and something special. We ordered their fried Calamari for a way to begin our meal it definitely ranks in my top three all time for Calamari it was delicious. I then ordered the Prime Rib available only on Fri. Sat. And Sun nights with a baked potato and yummy French Onion Soup. It was cooked perfectly medium rare and melted in my mouth. My wife ordered a Jumbo butterflied Shrimp dish with potato soup and fries . The soup was Italian potato and I asked our server was there any way she could change it because the spices in the soup were too much for my wife. Our server said no problem and changed it out for a salad. Her shrimp were huge and I tried one so I can say delicious. The service here especially considering how busy they were was superb. We will definitely be back! The only downside of the entire evening would have to be the parking lot . It's very crowded and somtimes very hard to get in and out.

"Wow"....just about sums up our experience. We had been here several years ago, and I remember it being good, but it just kind of fell off of our radar. It was absolutely packed on a Friday night, but we had no wait at 7:00. The Steak Bite Pasta was fantastic. The filets in the pasta were a perfect medium rare, just as I had ordered it. My wife had their plain breasted pork chops and thought they were very good. One daughter had the buffalo wing appetizer and rated the wings as "the second best wings" she's ever had! (Her favorite are in Rapid City, S.D.) My other daughter had the kids ribs....when they arrived, we immediately thought they made a mistake and gave her an adult portion based on the 10 ribs that they served. Nope, that was the kids portion! Overall, all of the meal portions were HUGE for a very fair price. The best part of the meal, however, was the service. Our waiter, Lupe, was fantastic. He was on his game all night long and very friendly with the adults and the kids at the table! Lupe was fantastic and really has his stuff together! And finally for desert...the apple pie and carrot cake were excellent!

I have eaten here several times since it opened a few years ago since it is right on the way to my summer place. In my opinion the food has gone down hill while the prices have gone the other way. We stopped for a light dinner last Thursday and I had a the saltiest cream of potato soup I have ever tasted and the wings which were extremely vinagery. Wife had spinach quesadilla and liked it. I was very surprised to see that the steaks were in the $22 - 28 range and appeared to be ala carte as there was a menu for sides which iclude $2.75 each for potato and veggy. It is true that it is alway busy but I believe that it is virtually the only restaurant along either Rte 30 or 47 for miles. The final straw is that the waitress never told us about 5 or 6 specials for that evening. I only found out because as I was paying my check I heard a waiter telling the people across from us about some great sounding meals (tenderloin tips and noodles). Our waitress seemed to be more interested in standing at the hostess stand chatting with the two women working there. I'll eat in Naperville from now on before getting on the tollway to the land of nothing to eat.

I wish there were six stars on Yelp! We chose this place after visiting Sugar Grove for a day trip. Not knowing where to turn, we checked Yelp and lo and behold, there was a well reviewed restaurant nearby that looked family-friendly. Oh how I wish I lived closer! I wish I knew the name of our server, because she gave us some of the best service we've had in a while. The menu was outstanding, the atmosphere was welcoming, warm, and happy, and it was definitely kid-friendly. Then the food showed up! I had an amazing daily special, and it was some of the most amazing restaurant food I have had in a while. It was filet medallions (tournados?) that were served with a crab cake over them, drizzled with an amazing sauce. It's been a while since I've had steak this tender and good (and it was still tender the next day when I had my leftovers!). Oh how I wish we didn't live over an hour away! As we were walking away, I said to my husband that if they were closer to us, we'd be there every week.

After moving to Yorkville my fiance and I noticed that the parking lot at Fireside was always packed. We thought it had to be good. We decided to give it a try when we needed a night off from cooking and were NOT disappointed!!! We started with the saganoki and it was just as good as the other reviews mentioned! My fiances had a mojito and I had a specialty martini. Both were made very well and not light on the alcohol by any means. Coming from the city, the price for the drinks was very inexpensive as well. For dinner he had the dipped pork chops that came with broccoli and sweet potato as well as creamy potato soup. It was all excellent!!! The pork was flavorful tender and juicy. The bbq sauce was sweet and tangy. The soup was definitely homemade and perfect thickness and the sweet potato was soft and served with butter and brown sugar. I ordered a special which was arctic char on sauteed spinach with a lemon dill sauce. It also came with sweet potato and soup which I ordered the baked french onion. Fish was prepared perfectly, tender juicy and flavorful. The creamy sauce was excellent as well as the french onion soup. We both ordered dessert as well. I had the turtle pie. Cant go wrong with chocolate, ice cream, caramel and nuts in pie form! He ordered homemade apple cobbler or apple pie (I cant remember), but I do remember that it was excellent! Now let talk about portion sizes. I know we ordered ALOT of food because we wanted a good sample of the menu, but we both took home enough for another meal. The plates were filled. We were not disappointed by the portion sizes especially for the price. Our bill came and I was astounded that it was lower (by quite a bit) than what I expected. Good food, good service, good portions, good atmosphere, good prices. You cant beat that. Highly recommend giving this place a try!

We've been to fireside lots. Tonight I realized what I couldn't place before - the Ribeye had no seasoning at all. Had I not ordered a side of onions, that pice of great beef would have been flavorless. Going back to their meatloaf next time - with the sweet potatoe.

I decided to dine here following my reading reviews from local Yelpers. They were right about the parking lot being totally full. Nice, homey atmosphere inside, and a huge fireplace. The booth I sat in was quite comfortable. The waitservice gets 5 stars - I was immediately waited on and attended to in a very prompt and courteous fashion from start to finish. The wine list had some good selections by the glass and there was a bar drinks menu on the table that doubled as a dessert menu. The french loaf was tasty and was served with real butter (a plus). I ordered the daily special, prime rib. What I received was palatable, but it had virtually no seasoning, and over 30% of it was inedible gristle. It was more like a pot roast than a prime rib. The steamed vegetables accompanying it were tough and chewy, hardly cooked. The mashed potatoes were the best thing on my dinner plate. I also had the baked French Onion soup, which was thick and tasty, but just barely warm enough - I prefer mine hot and steaming. It had lots more flavor than my main dish. I ordered the turtle ice cream pie for dessert - THAT was a WINNER, best thing I ate all evening. In summary, a restaurant with great service and reasonable prices, but the food (except dessert) could stand some improvement.

Excellent place for dinner if you're anywhere near Sugar Grove. Where the hell is Sugar Grove? It's the next town past Aurora heading west. One gas station, one stop light, one bank, one convenient store. And a hell of a good restaurant. Fireside Grille has had several incarnations over may years. It's own by a family that's been in the restaurant business for generations, and their expertise shows. Service is outstanding with a warm, friendly attitude by everyone. The place is clean and welcoming, lots of wood furnishings, almost a lodge feeling. They've got lots of space, and pack them in most nights. But no long waits by the front door like many suburban restaurants. We spend 2 1/2 hours having dinner while the place was full, and were never rushed. We worked through some of the standard appetizers plus a tasty unusual one (creamy asiago cheese, spinach, artichokes and sun-dried tomatoes cooked in a small casserole dish and accompanied by thin slices of toasted bread to spread it on). For my main, I had a fabulous coconut-crusted mahi mahi with a mango-pineapple sauce. It was shockingly good - the batter was not too thick, the coconut did not overwhelm, and the fish was not overcooked. But after appetizers and a shrimp and crab chowder before the entree, I couldn't do it justice. I got closer to eating it all than my wife did with her enormous special of the night - pasta with five grilled steak medallions. She brought most of it home, and acknowledged the cheese on the steak medallions made my mahi mahi the winner of the night (take that, Erika G). Wonderful cheesecake for dessert - huge but light and creamy with a choice of sauces - four of us shared it. Is it a destination to drive to from the Loop? No. But if you're west of Naperville and want an excellent dinner, Google Sugar Grove, drive a bit, have a great dinner, and be back in the Loop in 45 minutes on I-88.

Looking for upscale, ritzy dining and high prices? This is NOT the place for you! Fireside Grille is a nice place to grab a meal, with a feel more on the business casual side of dining. The menu is suited to please everyone. Apps - we usually go with the saganaki to pair with their excellent homemade baked bread. It is flamed table side and in my opinion does the trick every time. Soups - they have the usual ever changing soup of the day like most eateries, but the baked french onion is my choice. It is a very solid showing to a staple among American restaurants. Salads - the salads here are excellent and the diner salad is more than sufficient to curtail the hunger until the main course arrives. Entrées - they have pastas, burgers, sandwiches, steaks, pork chops, fresh seafood and much more. Most weekend nights they have Tornados, which are filets that put up a very strong showing. I highly recommend the chicken (on the bone). Especially with the Honey BBQ, it is amazing. The veggies that accompany most meals are fresh and not soggy like a lot of places. Drinks - you can have any drink made here and they do a great job while keeping it affordable. If you go during dinner hours on Fri or Sat you may have a 20 minute wait, but we don't mind. For a couple to eat with drinks you are looking at $45 - 70 total, depending on cocktails and which area of the menu you order off of. This is a solid 4 star eatery and is a place I take family or guests when they are in town.

Good each time we are there. Had an issue about 3 years ago with my Dad's credit card bill. Someone added more on the tip. Not a good idea with my dad. He called and it was corrected. Hope that guy or gal does not work there anymore. Still go there but watch your bills.

My first visit here and will revisit when in the area. Great food, service and ambiance. And to top that a great price point! The Lamb chops and the Salmon were seasoned and cooked to perfection. The baked sweet potato mmmmmmm, mmmmmmm, mmmmmm!

Don't think I'm being biased just because I live 2 min. away from this place. I could probably walk here, but considering that it is Africa hot outside, that's a big N O. To be completely honest, this joint is not too shabby! I see that it was a $$$ rating...well don' t let that scare you, just come for lunch to try it out!! They have lots of options on their lunch menu, mostly in the $10 range. And the food is pretty decent! The place is nice and clean, and comfortable, and the service is good. I can't believe that it has taken me this long to actually try this place out. Why not 5 stars? It's not the BEST food I have ever had, but it's definitely NOT CLOSE to the worst. And I have to say, they can throw down on a pretty mean meatloaf with garlic mashed potatoes. Ugh, my mouth just started watering...

Great atmosphere. Four people enjoyed everything. Chicken dinner salad, meatloaf, vegetables, mashed potatoes were great. Prime rib was cooked to perfection and the baked potato was fresh baked. Grilled cheese for the baby was yuummy.

The parking lot of this place is always PACKED and after trying to have dinner at Capri (its CLOSED) we drove back and stopped in for a drink on Saturday night. It was crowded, but there a few seats at the end of the bar. The bartender was fantastic!!! She was quick with drinks and made good suggestions about the food. We had the Steak Bites as an app and there were FANTASTIC - tasty, cooked perfectly and just the right amount. After that we decided to stay for dinner and eat at the bar.... Hot Mamma had the Seafood Pasta House salad and thought it was just ok, nothing special....I had the full rack of ribs and was VERY DISAPPOINTED. The ribs just were not that good, too many small ones, and as soon I would have a bite I would have to remove some little bone pieces, not nearly enough meat (Mamma thought so too) also there was Way too much sauce for me (they were over smothered). Entrees are on the higher end of the price spectrum...... Hot Mamma did sample the Chocolate Martini...and it did the trick!! They had two older style tvs behind the bar for the Hawks playoff game (and one did not work). The bar is nice but not great. Same for the restaurant, it is a family type joint that has not been updated in about 20 years. Fast and friendly service, good spot for a beer and some chow! 2 gls cycles PN 13.50 3 Lite Beer Tap 9.00 1 Stk Bite App 9.99 1 Seafood Pasta, house salad 17.99 1 BBQ Full Rack, house salad 21.99 1 Choc Martini 8.00 Total - $86.91

We've eaten here many times. We once took a friend from out of town and he commented that if he lived closer, he'd eat here all the time. The food is good, we've never had bad service and you can get a nice entree or just a sandwich. Sugar Grove is lucky to have this place.

We visited Fireside Grille for the first time earlier this week. Great experience. My wife and I and another couple decided to try a new place - and we were very pleased. Three of us had the Top Sirloin - very tasty, cooked as we ordered it, and the sides were well proportioned as well. We were also pleased with the wait staff - very attentive, friendly, and knowledgable. Thanks, Fireside, we will be back!

I love Fireside - it's quaint and homey - Have been there many times-food is great- I love the meat loaf , French onion soup & burgers - very good & reasonably priced. I like the prime rib and bbq ribs but you can get those anywhere - The only thing I don't like is the parking lot and access roads -I don't know how someone from out of town would be able to find it. .. and for those complaints about the pricing?- I guess they've never eaten in Chicago or Naperville or Florida on the Gulf.

Awesome French onion soup, saganaki, steaks, broasted pork chops... I haven't tried anything here that I didn't love. Full bar, knowledgeable staff, great service. Closed on Mondays, which is kind of a bummer. Fun for a date night or dinner with the fam. Can also accommodate large parties.

I'm going to dissent from the general consensus. I didn't like it. I went on a Friday night with my bf and his family and it was packed. I attribute the business due to the fact that there really is nothing in Sugar Grove or surrounding towns. I ordered the sauteed tilapia and had the sauce on the side. I was incredibly underwhelmed, the sauce was lemon butter with sun dried tomatoes and capers and it was really thick and gross, almost the consistency of jelly. I didn't eat any of the bread that they brought out but it looked good and soft. I think it may have been better if I had ordered something like meatloaf or chicken but the fish was just terrible. I had a really bad stomach ache after eating there also. I might go back given the lack of options around Montgomery but I will def not order seafood again. I hope to have a more positive experience as others have.

Great restaurant! I have been here twice with my girlfriend I have had a great experience both times with the staff and food. I have had surf and turf here and it was done just right, with very large portions. The first time I went, my steak was a little bit redder than I had ordered, but I'll take steak as long as it's not rare. The cheese artichoke and calamari appetizers are delicious and large. My girlfriend and I both love the bread and butter that comes before the meal. She also loves their sangria. I had grown up near this building back when it was a smorgasbord and I hadn't heard much when it was converted to Fireside until my girlfriend told me about it, saying that it was now a really nice restaurant. I had my worries going there the first time, but as soon as I walked in and saw the great atmosphere, my worries were put to ease. The waitresses were helpful, friendly and did a good job. The prices are reasonable for the food and portions that you get. I will definitely be back here again.

This place used to be delicious, I don't understand all the 4-5 star reviews because it doesn't deserve them. We tried it again this weekend and waited over an hour for the entrée to come and it was terrible, watered down salad dressing is a sign of a restaurant that doesn't care. No thanks.
